Since 25 October 1980 the force has been under the authority of the Generalitat de Catalunya (the Government of Catalonia). With the return of democracy to Spain, the Mossos d'Esquadra grew in number and powers. These new Mossos were a militarized corps having little similarity to the earlier incarnations, with limited powers and small numbers, which was in charge of protecting the government buildings of the Province of Barcelona. On 21 July 1950 the Deputation of Barcelona was authorised to create a small security force using the historical title Mossos d'Esquadra. They trace their origins back to squads formed in 1719. After several minutes the accused males left and the victim pushed his way out and went to a neighbors to call 911 at approximately 8:07 a.m.The Mossos d'Esquadra ( Catalan pronunciation: English: Squad), also known as the Policia de la Generalitat de Catalunya and informally as Mossos, is the autonomous police force responsible for law enforcement in Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia. After taking those items, they took the victim to a lower-level closet, pushed him inside and then propped things against the door. The male that was watching the victim found a handgun under a table, un-holstered it, pointed it at the victim and demanded his wallet, phone and keys. As one of the unknown males stayed with the victim, the other rummaged through the house. The victim was then brought to his feet and taken to the main floor of his bi-level house. Upon opening the door, a second black male jumped on the porch and pushed his way past both subjects, knocking the victim to the ground.
